EFMI Bursaries

Introduction

  1. The bursaries’ aim is to encourage young and/or financially challenged colleagues to participate in EFMI’s conferences.
  2. Bursaries will cover ONLY the conference fee. The scholars will cover travel costs, out-of-pocket expenses, and other expenses.
  3. Preferably, individuals belonging to one of the EFMI national associations wishing to take part in an EFMI conference are entitled to apply for a bursary.
  4. The EFMI Council will appoint a four-member committee (Bursary Committee) to evaluate and judge all applications.
  5. The application for the candidate should be sent by email to the chairperson of the Bursary Committee.
  6. The deadline for submitting applications is three months before the conference opens.

Requirements and Criteria

  1. To accept their application, applicants must declare the following:
  • The financial barrier is the only reason holding the applicant back from registering.
  • The applicant has sufficient resources to cover travel expenses and lodging.
  • It is preferred that the applicant’s employer, institute, or university support their participation in the conference (with or without financial support).
  1. The Bursary Committee prioritises younger applicants compared to older applicants.
  2. Prioritise applicants according to whether they have accepted a full paper, a short communication paper, poster, workshop, or no presentation but request a submitted paper or poster.
  3. Prioritise applicants of EFMI national associations (but request that the applicant live in Europe).

Decision

The applicant will receive a bursary once:

  1. A positive decision is taken by the Bursary Committee, and
  2. An applicant’s submission is accepted by the SPC for publication as a full paper
